In April 2026, Farm Pack proudly opened its renovated and expanded production facility in the Netherlands. For the producer of frozen corn on the cob and gently cooked vegetables in Kapelle, this marked an important milestone. By completing both the new construction and renovation, the family-owned company took an impressive step forward and prepared the organization for the next twenty years.
The expansion included improving internal traffic flows, increasing (temperature-controlled) logistics and packing areas, and renovating employee facilities, including the cafeteria and changing rooms. The cold storage room was also relocated. In addition, a new dry warehouse, a cold storage warehouse, and an office directly adjacent to the shipping and production areas were built. This brought employees, processes, and departments closer together again in a hygienic way, exactly as Farm Pack had envisioned.
According to owner Linda de Regt, the project required flexibility, short communication lines, and decisive decision-making. Because the project involved both renovation and expansion, it was carried out as a collaborative construction project with contractor Fraanje bv. “It’s like renovating an old house,” she explained. Throughout the project, the team had to respond quickly to what they encountered on site. That approach made it possible to carefully, safely, and sustainably modernize the production environment for the future.
One of the project's greatest strengths was the collaboration with construction partners experienced in the food industry. They understood the importance of hygiene, food safety, and efficient routing. During the renovation, careful consideration was given to how employees could enter and leave the facility hygienically. Temporary routes were created, and work areas were sealed to food safety standards, allowing operations to continue responsibly throughout the project.
Unexpectedly, grid congestion became a significant factor. Farm Pack had to consider not only project costs and the predefined requirements, but also energy consumption and available grid capacity at every stage. That required a different approach to both construction and decision-making.
What made the project even more remarkable was that Farm Pack completed the new facility to the BREEAM 4-Star standard. Within the food industry, that is an achievement to be proud of. With the opening of its renovated facility, Farm Pack demonstrated that growth, sustainability, hygiene, and craftsmanship can go hand in hand. The production site is ready for the future, while the company's ambition to continue developing remains as strong as ever.
