The benefits of Kleentec Hygiene

  • 14 October 2014

A hygienic manufacturing environment can help to improve the efficiency and performance of production processes. “However, the responsibility to ensure a hygienic environment should never become a burden on the food manufacturer.” That is the vision of market leader Kleentec.

Over the past 15-plus years, Kleentec has developed into a cleaning specialist which is right at home in the food-industry culture, which is a no-nonsense one of tackling problems and sticking to agreements. Director Bas Niemeijer: “The basis for a long-term win-win relationship is mutual trust. And that doesn’t evolve by itself; you have to work at it – by being open and honest about what you can and can’t do, by delivering on your promises, but also by really daring to allow your thoughts and deeds to be led by customer interests rather than putting your own business opportunities first. That might sound obvious, but it takes a lot of time and effort to bring everyone around to that way of thinking. True customer focus is in every single fibre of the organisation.” It is for that reason that Kleentec empowers its employees at all levels of the organisation. Bas Niemeijer comments: “We ensure that our people know why we choose to use particular procedures and techniques, that they feel involved in the company, and that they want to – and are able to – shoulder responsibility.”

Total Productive Maintenance

Based on this successful approach, Kleentec (450 employees) works for food producers throughout The Netherlands. The company is guided by the principles of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Completely relieving customers of the burden extends through all aspects of wet and dry cleaning, disinfecting, washing of boxes, crates and pallets and preparing production lines and manufacturing environments for production. Kleentec can also take care of small-scale and scheduled equipment maintenance: “In that case, our employees work on site at our customers’ facilities in small, multidisciplinary teams. They are often able to gradually improve the effectiveness of the machinery over time.”

Kleendesk tool

To record and document the cleaning and disinfection processes, Kleentec works with the Kleendesk online management tool: “This brings together the logbook, visual checklists, the microbiological tests and an extensive digital database, among other things. Kleendesk makes it easier to check and evaluate the situation and to identify opportunities for improvements.”
