Lamb Weston plans to close Limburg production facility

  • 08 June 2026

Lamb Weston plans to close its production facility in Broekhuizenvorst, Limburg. The producer of frozen potato products cites changing market conditions as the reason behind the proposal. The company also wants to better align its global production capacity with customer demand. The planned closure will affect approximately 110 employees.

Adjusting the production network

According to Lamb Weston, the proposed closure is part of a broader effort to adapt its global production network to current market conditions. Through this move, the company aims to improve efficiency and better match its production capacity to customer needs.

“These actions are part of our commitment to ensuring the long-term resilience and competitiveness of our global production network,” said Sylvia Wilks, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Lamb Weston.

She described the closure as a difficult step. “While this is a very difficult step, particularly given the strong commitment of our Broekhuizenvorst team, it is necessary to position us to improve our operational efficiency and better align our manufacturing footprint with customer needs.”

Consultation process begins

Lamb Weston has now launched a formal consultation process with the Works Council. This process will take place in accordance with Dutch regulations. The company says it intends to conduct the discussions in an open and constructive manner.

In addition, Lamb Weston plans to support the approximately 110 employees affected throughout the process. The company says it will do so with respect for its employees and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

According to Lamb Weston, the announced measure forms part of its Focus to Win strategy. This strategy focuses on prioritizing markets and sales channels, strengthening customer relationships, improving execution, and driving innovation.
