Organic food remains a key focus area for De Smaakspecialist. With the acquisition of Joannusmolen, the company is once again adding a well-known name to its portfolio. Earlier, IDorganics also became part of the Ulvenhout-based organization. With these acquisitions, De Smaakspecialist continues to invest in growth within the organic food market.
Joannusmolen has been active in the organic market for nearly 45 years. The brand is known for its organic flours, gluten-free baking products, breakfast products, and porridges. Products that have been available in health food stores for many years and have found their way to conscious consumers.
Joannusmolen’s production takes place at IDorganics in Zaandam. That company was previously acquired by De Smaakspecialist because of its expertise in organic production and distribution. With that combination, the company aims to continue building growth within the natural foods market.
According to De Smaakspecialist, the acquisitions align with the company’s long-term strategy. The focus is on organic food that should remain accessible to a broad audience, without compromising on quality, sustainability, or taste.
“With the acquisition of IDorganics and Joannusmolen, we are taking an important step in realizing our long-term strategy. By joining forces, we are strengthening our position within the natural food channel, both in the Netherlands and abroad. This allows us to continue building towards our ambition of becoming a strong European player in organic food. We thank Jetse and Sandra for the time and energy they invested in putting IDorganics on the map,” says founder Pieter Dirven.
De Smaakspecialist’s portfolio includes brands such as Smaakt, BioToday, RAW Organic Food, and Better Pete. With the acquisition of Joannusmolen, that portfolio is being expanded even further. From Ulvenhout, the company works daily on products for supermarkets, specialty retailers, and international markets. The focus is on sustainable production and long-term partnerships within the organic food sector.
