Food Matters Live comes to Rotterdam

  • 23 June 2025

For the first time in its history, the highly successful UK and Ireland-based event ‘Food Matters Live’ will set foot on the European mainland — and it’s chosen no less than the Netherlands: a global frontrunner in food processing, distribution and sustainable innovation. The event will take place on 23 and 24 September 2025 at the Ahoy Convention Centre in Rotterdam.

Bringing together over 750 professionals and 100 leading speakers, Food Matters Live is designed to connect R&D, technical and innovation experts from across the food, drink and dietary supplements sectors. “This event in Rotterdam brings that mission to life – offering unmatched access to innovation, insights, and global expertise,” says Briony Mansell-Lewis, Managing Director of Food Matters Live. The choice for the Netherlands was deliberate, given its thriving food industry, forward-thinking SMEs, and strong focus on research and development.

The program revolves around four key themes:

  • The Tastes of Better: live demonstrations and tastings in fully equipped kitchens, centered on innovative ingredients
  • Insights and Trends: future-oriented talks on sustainability, ultra-processed foods and new product development
  • The Future of Positive Nutrition: research-driven sessions covering topics like healthy ageing, women’s wellbeing and active lifestyles
  • The NPD Discovery Zone: practical demos and insights on reformulation and shifting consumer needs

Key partners include Ingredion, AAK, Tate & Lyle, Daabon and Agrana Fruit. They’ll be joined by expert contributors such as Rousselot, Ulrick & Short, Enough, Besmoke, Arborea and Brightlands Nova Bite – each offering focused sessions built on deep industry knowledge, showcasing their solutions and expertise in product development. The setup in Rotterdam – with four stages, tailored one-to-one meetings and exclusive tastings – encourages meaningful connections and hands-on experience with innovative solutions.

In combination with Gastvrij Rotterdam, the Netherlands’ second-largest hospitality trade fair, the event offers additional networking opportunities and inspiration. “The future of the food industry depends on cross-sector collaboration. That’s essential to effectively respond to ever-evolving consumer expectations, around sustainability, health and affordability,” says Mansell-Lewis.
