Anuga 2025 breaks records with largest edition to date

  • 10 October 2025

With over 145,000 visitors from more than 190 countries and 8,015 exhibitors from 110 nations, Anuga 2025 was the largest edition in the trade fair’s history. From 4 to 8 October, professionals from the global food industry gathered in Cologne.

International crowd and political presence

The fair attracted a wide international audience. Many visitors came from the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Outside Europe, Brazil, China, Japan, Canada and the US were strongly represented. 94 percent of exhibitors came from abroad, as did 80 percent of the visitors.

Political figures and policymakers were also in attendance. German Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer and his South Korean counterpart Miryung Song visited the fair, joined by several international delegations.

Partner country Korea: fermentation and food tech

This year’s partner country was Korea. Around 100 Korean companies showcased their offerings, ranging from traditional fermented products such as kimchi and gochujang to modern food tech solutions. Guided tours, tastings and cultural activities brought Korean cuisine to life on the exhibition floor.

“This year’s Anuga brought K-food and global food trends together,” said Bong Jun Yoo of the Korea Food Industry Association. “It led to numerous successful meetings with buyers and the start of new business partnerships.”

Knowledge program and new formats

At the new Anuga HORIZON Stage, international experts shared insights on alternative proteins, sustainability, food tech and vertical farming. Speakers included Edwin Bark (Redefine Meat), Hector Freitas (LIVEKINDLY Collective) and Dr Giuseppe Scionti (Novameat). Partners such as BALPro, ProVeg, Vegconomist, DLG, Lidl and REWE supported the program.

Anuga Alternatives celebrated its debut nearby. The Anuga Trend Zone, together with Innova Market Insights and Euromonitor, provided analyses on global trends, plant-based food, health and wellness. Anuga Organic on Stage addressed topics including the EU’s goal of 30 percent organic farmland by 2030, genetic engineering and sustainability.

The high calibre of visitors was widely praised. Nearly all of the top 20 companies in German food retail were present, including Aldi Nord and Süd, Edeka, Lidl, Metro and Rewe. International retailers such as Amazon, Carrefour, Walmart, Ahold Delhaize and JD.com also attended.

Anuga’s global brand continues to grow. In addition to the Cologne edition, satellite events are now held in Milan, Brazil, China, India, Japan, Thailand and Madrid. On social media, Anuga reached more than 3 million people this year—25 percent more than in 2023.

The next edition of Anuga will take place from 9 to 13 October 2027.
