What's Cooking? completes sale of Savoury division

  • 14 January 2025

The strategic shift within the European food industry takes shape with the completion of the sale of What's Cooking Group's Savoury business unit to AURELIUS. This deal, announced in October 2024, was finalized on 10 January 2025 after all relevant approvals were secured.

Significant milestone for both parties

What's Cooking Group, known for its wide range of deli meats and ready meals, has generated net proceeds of approximately 100 million euros through this transaction. The Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Savoury, operating in Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Germany, accounted for 464 million euros in revenue in 2023. CEO Piet Sanders views the sale as an opportunity to focus more on the growth of the ready meals division. "We are confident that the strong foundations of the SBU Savoury will continue to thrive under AURELIUS," said Sanders.

AURELIUS strengthens regional presence

AURELIUS, a globally active investor with a robust network in Belgium and the Netherlands, sees this acquisition as a reinforcement of its regional strategy. "The acquisition of the renowned Savoury activities of What's Cooking? complements our existing strategy and footprint in the region," stated Andrzej Cebrat, Managing Director of AURELIUS European Opportunities IV. With a dedicated team in Amsterdam, AURELIUS aims to support the Savoury management in achieving new growth opportunities.

This transaction highlights What's Cooking Group's focus on innovation and expansion while solidifying AURELIUS' position in the European food sector.
