Starting in March 2026, the Dutch Vegetarian Society will roll out a new nationwide campaign: Change Things Up A Bit. The successor to Week Without Meat and Dairy comes with a much friendlier tone. Less pressure, more room to make your own choices.
From week 10 on, the campaign will be visible everywhere. In supermarkets, on the street, at work, online—you name it. Not just one week a year, but all year round. And always with the same goal: showing that you can eat plant-based in your own way. Sometimes a big step, sometimes a small one. Recipes, tips, ideas—everything is meant to make it just a bit easier.
Week Without Meat has existed since 2018 and quickly became well known. Still, that little word “without” kept feeling restrictive. For many people it came across like a kind of ban, even though small swaps often work better. That’s why the Dutch Vegetarian Society is deliberately choosing a more positive approach. Change Things Up A Bit is not about what you have to give up, but about what you can try instead.
Basically anyone who wants to change something. Vegetarians, flexitarians, or people who want to swap things out once in a while. The core message stays simple: every plant-based meal counts. In January and February, more information will follow on how to take part. The official kick-off is planned for week 10.
