The latest edition of the Dutch Nutrient Database is now online. It’s a significant update, especially for grain products and flour types. A few new products have also been added, giving professionals in the food industry access to fresh data again.
In total, the nutritional values of more than 2,300 products have been revised. The category of grain products and flour types, in particular, has received an update. Almond flour, coconut flour, and even poffertjes are now included. Each product comes with updated values, such as proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Useful for anyone working with formulations, whether in research, consultancy, or product development.
New in this edition is the ability to select free sugars. These are sugars added to foods by consumers, chefs, or manufacturers. Think of granulated sugar, honey, or juice concentrate. It makes searching the dataset a bit more precise and helps distinguish between natural and added sugars.
NEVO-online remains the official nutrient database of the Netherlands. It includes not only nutritional values but also source references and information on available recipes. The full dataset can be downloaded from the NEVO page, which saves considerable time in practice.
NEVO is also part of the Nederlands Voedingsmiddelen Informatie Portaal (NVIP). This portal connects several databases. The goal is straightforward: to ensure users can access and apply the data more efficiently.
