Unica acquires Nijmeijer and Schoonebeek

Unica is expanding its network with two technical specialists. Nijmeijer Koeltechniek and Schoonebeek Klimaattechniek are joining the group. This strengthens Unica’s position in cooling and climate technology, including within the food sector.

Stronger coverage in the northeast

With this addition, Unica brings in two established names. Nijmeijer and Schoonebeek employ a total of 35 people. They operate in industry, healthcare, and the food sector. Both companies are primarily active in the northeastern Netherlands and have built a strong regional reputation.

Nijmeijer Koeltechniek, based in Hoogeveen, has been active since 1980. The company focuses on industrial refrigeration systems and process cooling. It handles design, installation, and maintenance for a wide range of applications. Schoonebeek Klimaattechniek, based in Stadskanaal, focuses on climate systems for utility buildings. The company works on energy-efficient and future-proof indoor climates. Schoonebeek was acquired by Nijmeijer in 2023.

Importance of cooling technology is increasing

According to CEO Jilko Andringa, the expansion fits within the company’s strategy. “I am pleased that we can add two strong regional specialists to our network.” He emphasizes that cooling and climate technology are important areas of expertise. This applies to sectors such as industry, food, utilities, and data centers.

With the addition of both companies, Unica strengthens its expertise in refrigeration technology. Its regional coverage within the industrial domain is also expanding.

Next phase for both companies

For Nijmeijer and Schoonebeek, the move creates new growth opportunities. Director and shareholder Chéry Wortelboer explains: “The market is moving toward larger and more integrated projects, where collaboration within a broader specialist network creates additional opportunities.”

Both companies will continue to operate under their existing names and from their current locations. This allows clients to retain the familiar approach and short lines of communication. The acquisition will not affect employment. Nijmeijer and Schoonebeek will become part of Unica Industry Solutions.
