Wednesday 16 October on World Food Day, the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BZ) launched the 'Netherlands Food Partnership' (NFP); a new movement that helps parties to develop ideas and projects that lead to zero hunger and a better food system.
The NFP is an important step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG2) - Zero Hunger in 2030. The Netherlands is a leader in agricultural innovation, water and food chains. In addition, the Netherlands has an excellent international reputation and is in a good position to contribute to sustainable food security and thus to SDG2. The NFP will work to develop an idea and share knowledge with each other. In this way, living labs will be created to share experiences with the outside world.
An example of where experiences come together is SeedNL. A partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the branch organisation Plantum to strengthen the local quality and knowledge of seeds in developing countries. Ultimately, this should improve the productivity of local farmers, so that they can feed more people.
