Sunt makes baked donuts from rescued bananas

  • 29 September 2022

Sunt is the first company worldwide to introduce baked donuts on a large scale and shows that even the traditional donut -which originated from the Dutch oliebol- can and must be a lot more sustainable and responsible. The most eaten fruit in the most eaten baked good.

Dunk the Junk!

Because the donuts are baked in the oven rather than immersed in a deep-frying pan, they contain 50% less fat than the traditional donut. Although the flavour does not give it away, Sunt's donuts also consist of a whopping 30% 'saved banana'. Bananas that would be destroyed for cosmetic reasons. Whereas innovation in the donut industry has so far not gone beyond over-the-top decorations and vegan options, Sunt's baked donut is not only vegan, but also pieces of less fat, palm oil-free and against food waste.
