Rasecht acquires FishPartners

  • 21 January 2026

Rasecht B.V., based in Urk, has acquired industry peer FishPartners B.V. from Bunschoten-Spakenburg. By combining activities, a strong partnership is formed within the market for mobile fish trade and fish specialty stores. Both companies will continue to operate independently within a shared holding structure, laying the foundation for further scaling and specialization.

Joint holding structure

The companies will be brought together under the newly established holding Horizon Group. Within this structure, five shareholders each hold an equal stake of twenty percent. From Rasecht, these are founder Jan Ras, his brother Klaas Ras, and Evert Baarssen, who joined the company following the acquisition of Zeebulon. From FishPartners, current management team members Dirk Peter Koelewijn and Jasper Beekhuis participate as shareholders.

The acquisition fits within a broader development in the fish sector. Consolidation, collaboration, and supply chain optimization are playing an increasingly important role. Rasecht and FishPartners share a similar vision for the future of the industry and expect that joining forces will allow them to better respond to rising market demands.

Production and distribution remain separate

FishPartners will continue to operate from its headquarters in Spakenburg, where 84 employees are based. From this location, the company provides daily deliveries to fish specialty stores and mobile traders in the Netherlands and Germany. In addition, FishPartners operates a production facility in Enschede, specializing in herring products, marinades, and proprietary sauces.

Rasecht will remain active from Urk and employs approximately twenty people. The company focuses on the production and processing of fresh fish fillets, with cod and salmon as its core products. From Urk, Rasecht serves the local market with a broad, complete assortment. Through the combination, production and distribution are more closely aligned.

Shared vision for long-term viability

According to Jan Ras, Managing Director of Rasecht, the acquisition aligns with the company’s long-term strategy: “We believe that scale, collaboration, and specialization are decisive for long-term viability in this industry. With FishPartners, we bring on board a partner that shares our vision and complements us in both assortment and logistical strength.”

Dirk Peter Koelewijn, Director of FishPartners, also describes the move as a logical step. “Our customers want to be fully supported with quality, speed, and availability. This step allows us to further fulfill our role as a full-service supplier.”
