Positive impact on product chains due to purchasing power

  • 21 January 2022

As a result of the growing number of conscious consumers and stricter legislation - in areas such as deforestation, food quality and human rights - more and more companies are feeling the urgency to make their (international) product chains more sustainable. ImpactBuying enables organisations and consumers to use their purchasing power to make a proven positive impact in supply chains. The company wants to initiate a movement towards sustainable and responsible purchasing, in order to structurally strengthen local communities and their natural environment.

By merging with SIM Supply Chain Information Management, ImpactBuying becomes a European leader when it comes to making supply chains more sustainable. By joining forces, the two companies - which will continue as ImpactBuying - can help customers comply with new EU legislation and positively influence the social and environmental impact of their activities. For the first time, it will also be possible to share impact stories with consumers down to product level, enabling them to make an informed choice when purchasing products.

The international team of impact specialists consists of almost 70% women and is led by Co-CEOs Marjan de Bock-Smit and Leontien Hasselman-Plugge. Currently, ImpactBuying supports companies such as Ahold Delhaize, Jumbo, COOP, Praxis, Action and HEMA using state-of-the-art technology and data verification. With a presence in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, a strong geographical footprint has been realised over the past 13 years. ImpactBuying is the market leader in the Netherlands and Belgium and aims to achieve growth in Northwest Europe.
