Nutri-Score to be introduced in the first half of 2022

Dutch food producers are expected to be allowed to use Nutri-Score as a logo in the first half of 2022. The logo will then also be suitable for online use. For example, in webshops offering food products, according to the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.

Use of the food choice logo by producers

Will the Nutri-Score food choice logo be available in the Netherlands in 2022? Then the government will advise the food producers on the rules for, among other things, registering the food choice logo and how to apply the logo on the packaging.

If a food producer uses Nutri-Score on his products, he must put the logo on all his products. It is not possible for a producer to place Nutri-Score on only a part of the product range.

Food producers do not have to use Nutri-Score if they do not wish to. However, only Nutri-Score will be a recognised food choice logo for Dutch food producers in the future. Other food choice logos about healthy food are not allowed for Dutch producers to place on Dutch packaging.
