Organic and plant-based food is still often seen as expensive. Odin and the Vegetariërsbond want to challenge that perception. With the ‘Odin Budget Vegan Challenge,’ they aim to show that organic, plant-based eating does not have to be costly.
The challenge is launched from Amsterdam and targets consumers. Participants are encouraged to eat fully plant-based for one week. To keep the threshold low, they receive seven recipes. These recipes are entirely organic and vegan and, according to the initiators, both flavorful and budget-friendly.
“With this challenge, we want to show that tasty organic and vegan food is within reach for everyone, without putting heavy pressure on the wallet,” says Floris de Graad, Director of the Vegetariërsbond. He describes the initiative as a way to inspire people to try new plant-based dishes for a week and experience for themselves how simple a plant-based lifestyle can be.
Odin and the Vegetariërsbond are promoting the challenge among their customers and members. For the organic retail chain, the initiative aligns with its mission to make organic food accessible and appealing to as many people as possible.
“The Odin Budget Vegan Challenge fits perfectly with our mission to make organic food accessible and attractive to as many people as possible,” says Merle Koomans van de Dries, Managing Director of Odin. She adds: “More organic and fewer animal-based products on the menu is positive for yourself, for animals, and for the climate.”
With this joint campaign, both organizations aim to let consumers experience that plant-based eating does not have to be complicated or expensive.
