More space, more technology, and above all greater analytical capacity. On March 5, NutriControl opened a new laboratory in Veghel. With this investment, the company aims to better support the agro and food sectors with complex analytical challenges.
The new laboratory is located on a 1.4-hectare site. The building itself covers 5,500 square meters. NutriControl invested more than €20 million in the project. The opening centers around the theme “New Space For Innovation”. According to the company, the new facility marks the next phase in its growth. More room, therefore, for innovation and analytical work. Among those present at the opening was Ms. Hagar Roijackers. She is the Deputy King’s Commissioner of the province of North Brabant.
At the new laboratory, NutriControl works with a range of analytical techniques. These include microbiology and biochemistry. Chromatography, spectroscopy and NIR data analyses are also part of the portfolio. From Veghel, the laboratory supports companies with reliable testing methods and specialist expertise. Especially in situations where standard solutions fall short.
Each year NutriControl carries out around 1.2 million tests. In addition, roughly 250,000 samples are analyzed. This also requires extensive preparation. About 175,000 pre-treatments are performed annually. The laboratory also generates around 500,000 NIR predictions. In total, NutriControl works with more than 300 testing methods. More than 90 of these are accredited.
The opening drew additional attention thanks to several speakers from government, science and industry. One of them is astronaut and physician Dr. André Kuipers. During his keynote, he connects his experiences in spaceflight with laboratory work. In spaceflight, everything revolves around precision, data quality and reliability. According to NutriControl, those principles are essential for modern food analysis.
For more than fifty years, the laboratory in Veghel has served as a foundation for companies in the agro and food sectors. Clients come from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. NutriControl is also an independent laboratory accredited under ISO-17025. Sectors such as dairy, animal feed, human nutrition, additives and pet food rely on its analyses.
