Starting January 1, 2026, the rates of the Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit (NVWA) will change. Companies that work with inspections, re-inspections, system supervision, certification, or sampling and analysis will face new costs. These rates are set by the Ministry of Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur (LVVN) and the Ministry of Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (VWS).
Each year, the NVWA reviews wage and price developments as well as adjustments in supervision. This time, that review results in a notable shift. Most rates are decreasing. On average, costs will fall by 6.1 percent compared to 2025. For many companies, that simply means slightly lower expenses for the same activities.
There is, however, one significant increase. The rates for the work of the official assistants, formerly KDS, will rise considerably. In 2025, these control activities were still supported by a one-time government contribution. As that support ends, the costs will increase by an average of 27 percent in 2026. A sharp contrast to the broader downward trend.
The amended regulations from LVVN have already been published in the Staatscourant and are available on the NVWA website. The regulation from VWS will follow later.
