National Week Without Meat adds '& Dairy' in 2022

  • 04 January 2022

From 7-13 March 2022, the fifth edition of the National Week Without Meat will take place in the Netherlands. New in 2022 is the addition of '& Dairy'. During the National Week Without Meat & Dairy 2022, participants are challenged not only to skip the meat, but also to try and replace dairy products.

Addition '& Dairy'

In 2018, the Week Without Meat was the campaign that first opened the eyes of many Dutch people to the impact of eating meat on the climate. In five years' time, a lot has changed in the Dutch eating culture, which has led the organisation to decide that it is time for the next step. In 2022, '& Dairy' will be added as an extra layer to the campaign, which will permanently change its name to National Week Without Meat & Dairy.

The basis of the week remains that every Dutch person is challenged to leave meat behind for a week, to discover how easy it is to eat vegetarian. As an extra addition, participants are also encouraged to skip dairy for a week. In this way, a more vegetarian diet is promoted, in which meat and dairy are alternated with vegetarian and vegan alternatives.
