McCain Foods Limited opened a state-of-the-art production facility in Rilland, Zeeland, on July 13. The new plant adds the prepared snacks and snacks division to McCain's production network in continental Europe. The facility increases production capacity and accelerates the growth of frozen vegetable snacks in European and international markets.
The new facility in Rilland increases McCain's production capacity and accelerates the growth of frozen vegetable snacks in the European and international markets. In September 2022, McCain acquired Scelta Products, a specialist in delicious prepared vegetable snacks (onion rings, crispy mushrooms and vegetable snacks), with 225 employees. This acquisition also included two additional production facilities in Kruiningen and Yerseke, located in the south of the Netherlands. These facilities are now seamlessly integrated into McCain Foods' prepared vegetable snacks and snacks division.
Max Koeune, President & CEO of McCain Foods said, "This strategic acquisition marks McCain Foods' commitment to invest in its integrated appetizer and snack business, expand its manufacturing and sales teams within continental Europe and achieve significant growth in both European and international markets.
"We plan to further invest in our Dutch facilities in the coming years. With the opening of the plant in Rilland, we are proud to be driving innovation in the appetizer industry," concluded Koeune.
"Our new state-of-the-art facility includes several environmentally friendly initiatives and allows us to further scale the development of our cheese-based snacks," said Alain Duranleau, McCain Regional President for Continental Europe, Lutosa and Van Geloven, who was also present at the opening in Rilland.
The production facility in Rilland will have a positive impact on the local economy and will create some 40 additional jobs. McCain Foods' total investment in Scelta products since the acquisition until 2024 will exceed 36 million euros.
