MAAZ Cheese expansion: 25% increased capacity

  • 20 December 2024

The cheese distribution center of MAAZ Cheese in Bodegraven is being expanded to support its growth in recent years. On December 13, the first foundation pile was driven into the ground for an expansion of 3,600 square meters—an important step for the company.

Doubling packaging capacity

The expansion at the rear of the building will create space for a new packaging area on the first floor. This will enable the packaging capacity for Dutch cheese to double. The current packaging lines on the second floor will be relocated to this new area, freeing up space for foreign cheeses in the existing building.

More efficient storage and shipping

On the ground floor, the ripening capacity will be increased by forty percent, and the shipping area will also be expanded. According to managing director JeanPaul Zijerveld, the expansion is essential to continue supporting the growth achieved over the past five years. “Now that we’ve mapped out all the needs, it’s time to take the next step,” said Zijerveld.

Quick completion in seven months

The construction, expected to take seven months, will not only add capacity but also improve logistical efficiency. With this investment, MAAZ Cheese is taking another step in further professionalizing the company, which has quickly established a strong position in the cheese market.
