Lower budget for promotion of meat and dairy products

The EU is allocating over €34 million to meat and dairy advertising campaigns in its annual round of grants. Last year the amount was €54 million, which is a decrease of almost 36 per cent. In addition, over €37 million goes to campaigns that include meat or dairy products. Last year, the EU allocated almost €39 million for this. This is according to research by Dier&Recht.

Half less subsidy for meat advertisements

This time, the EU set aside 13 million euros for meat promotion. Last year that was nearly 27 million euros, a 51 per cent drop. For the promotion of dairy, the EU spends over 21 million euros this round, a decrease of almost 20 per cent compared to last year. This makes 23 per cent of the total EU promotion budget spent on adverts for meat and dairy.
