The renowned GEA SmartPacker CX and SX400 vertical packaging machines, can now be equipped with the innovative "Smart Sealing System". This system uses coated sealing strips instead of Teflon tape, giving it a significantly longer service life and effortlessly seals up to 1 million bags without replacement. This offers many benefits: maximising productivity, reducing downtime, lowering total cost of ownership (TCO) and improving packaging quality.
The GEA Smart Sealing System is designed for pillow and gusset bags containing frozen vegetables, fruit, potato products, meat, meat alternatives, fish and seafood. The system is designed for flexible use with PE mono materials, laminates, including recyclable material structures such as BOPE, MDOPE, PP-based laminates and paper laminates.
The Smart Sealing System provides more reliable bag sealing with the built-in product in seal detection system. It eliminates the possibility of open packs and also prevents bag sealing when food is detected in the seal area. Leaking packs and knife damage are thus avoided. The result: lower costs and higher productivity.
In addition, the pressure applied to each seal by the Smart Sealing System is increased and the cooling time of the produced seal for each cycle is reduced. The result is higher capacity and an increase in machine output of up to 20%. All in all, this has increased "overall equipment efficiency" (OEE), seal consistency and packaging quality.
