Every year, Food100 proudly presents 100 established leaders and up-and-coming talents who work hard every day for better and fairer food and drink for all. This is the list of the progressive and promising food changers of 2021.
"A fine reflection of those who dare to think and act differently within the Dutch food system". This is how Isabel Boerdam (initiator of the National Week Without Meat) describes the list of 2021. "The food changers don't just come from all over the country, but also from all layers of the food chain: from progressive farmers to teachers and scientists, from young entrepreneurs to professionals with years of experience to a chef with a green Michelin star."
Food100 is not a ranking or competition, but an up-to-date selection of 100 food changers of today and tomorrow. The list is therefore arranged alphabetically. All nominees have provided a motivation for earning their place on this list and thus becoming part of the Food100 network.
In recent weeks, an independent expert jury has been busy assessing the more than 300 entries. From all candidates, 50 changemakers (up to 30 years old) and 50 game changers (30 years and older) have been selected. In the selection, the jury assesses the candidates on the 4 criteria decisiveness, innovation, sustainability and the extent to which the candidate shares knowledge and insights. This year, extra attention was paid to scalability, autonomy, topicality and inclusiveness.
From the Food100 list, the jury will select six food heroes who will receive a special mention for their extraordinary achievements in the past year. On Monday 20 September from 16:00 to 16:30 the Food Heroes of 2021 will be announced via a live stream that can be followed on Youtube.
