Food products were 18.4 per cent more expensive in February than a year earlier, up from 17.6 per cent in January. This was mainly due to price developments of fresh vegetables. In addition, price developments of restaurant and café visits (including takeaway meals) and energy also had an increasing effect on inflation, CBS said.
Consumer goods and services were 8 percent more expensive in February than in the same month a year earlier. In January, inflation was 7.6 per cent. Overall inflation thus showed an increase in February for the first time after three consecutive months of declines.
Eurozone inflation was down from 8.6 per cent in January to 8.5 per cent in February.
