CONO Kaasmakers acquires Jacques’ Kruidenboter

  • 21 August 2025

CONO Kaasmakers is taking a new step. The cooperative behind Beemster cheese has acquired Jacques’ Kruidenboter BV in Den Helder. This not only adds another product category, but also strengthens its position in the dairy sector.

Jacques’ Kruidenboter continues operations

For 45 years, Jacques’ Kruidenboter has been known for producing herb butter, white cheese products and meal flavourings. Their products are sold in supermarkets, supplied to foodservice, and processed into various private label ranges. The factory in Den Helder will keep running as usual. Around thirty employees will retain their positions, along with existing production processes.

Collaboration as the key

For CONO, the acquisition fits perfectly with its long-term vision. Growth, but with a clear focus on quality, craftsmanship and value for dairy farmers and customers. The addition of herb butter is, according to the company, a valuable complement to its existing range of premium cheeses. General Director Jerry Griep comments: “Binnen een uitdagende markt is samenwerking de sleutel tot vooruitgang. Door deze overname brengen we twee sterke partijen samen, bundelen we kennis en passie – en blijven we trouw aan wie we zijn.”

Continuity for Den Helder

For Jacques’ Kruidenboter, the step also feels natural. The brand will continue to operate independently, with no immediate changes.

The coming months will focus on integration. Careful and deliberate, with respect for both company cultures. This way, the two parties will continue building a portfolio that balances tradition with innovation.
