Beckers Veggie: 100% vegetarian snacks

Beckers has developed a whole line of vegetarian oven snacks. From 1 October 2018 onwards, the products will be placed in the freezer compartment under the name Beckers Veggie at Albert Heijn and Jumbo. After months of development and consumer tests, the vegetarian frikandel and croquette can hardly be distinguished from the original. The other Beckers snacks couldn't stay behind, of course, and so Beckers Veggie was created, a completely vegetarian snack line with not only the frikandel but also the croquette, bitterball, nugget and snack mix. To celebrate the launch of Veggie on a grand scale, Beckers will open a pop-up VEGETARIA in Amsterdam on World Animal Day on the 4th of October.

100% vegetarian

The Dutch love snacking, for example, we eat an average of 25 croquettes and 37 frikandells a year and at the 2018 Olympics no less than 22,000 bitterballen were consumed! In addition, there is the trend of less meat consumption and a more conscious lifestyle of consumers. Beckers combined these two facts and succeeded in developing the recipe for delicious 100% vegetarian snacks; ultra-Dutch, yet responsible and modern. A completely vegetable product line with alternatives to Beckers' tastiest and most popular snacks followed. Kamiel Steendijk, CEO of Izico Group (the producer of Beckers) is proud of his development team: "With the arrival of Beckers Veggie we are responding perfectly to the trend where more and more consumers (occasionally) make vegetarian choices. Vegetaria

To launch 'Beckers Veggie' on a grand scale, Beckers opens a real pop-up Vegetaria in the heart of Amsterdam. The Beckers Vegetaria will open its doors on Thursday 4 October 2018. Everyone is welcome to try a delicious roll of vegetarian croquette, special frikandel, bitterballs or nuggets. All snacks are sold for a promotional price of €1. The Vegetaria is open from 4 to 7 October between 12:00 and 19:00. The address is Nieuwezijds Kolk 25 in Amsterdam.

Recipe and preparation

The recipe of the snack line is 100% vegetarian and plant-based, using grains and soy. This makes the snacks ideal for all vegetarians, flexitarians and anyone who simply wants to eat less meat. Special about this line is that the same experience and quality of the classic Beckers snacks is preserved. The same bite, the crispy layer and a delicious filling with fine herbs. The complete line of snacks can be prepared in no time, easily and quickly in the oven or airfryer. Maybe even better than the original!
