Antibacterial and hygienic: how to create 'the perfect picture'

Walls and ceilings cover most of the surface area in food companies. This means that during new construction, renovation, or refurbishment, significant attention must be paid to their finishing. With the antibacterial panels from Sealwise WBC, Jackit offers a solution to achieve 'the perfect picture.'

“In the food industry, many people know Jack Pluim from Jackit in Beekbergen,” says Ernest Conradi, manager of Sealwise EMEA. “He has the exclusive rights to sell the Sealwise WBC panels.” Ernest fondly recalls how he met Jack: “We were promoting the panels. Jack saw this and called me with a brief question: ‘What’s the price?’ We arranged a meeting to get acquainted. There was an immediate connection, and Jack said, ‘I’ll be back tomorrow.’ He did return the next day and ordered a full container of Sealwise. Thus, he became our first customer. Jack is a man of his word. Since that first meeting, our trust in him has only grown. He ensures that food companies can progress and move forward. He provides clarity, takes the desired minimal downtime into account, keeps his promises, and works with the best materials. We take care of the production.”

On the road with Sealwise

Sealwise is located in Waalwijk. The company is a neighbor and part of the Plastica Group. Ernest enthusiastically discusses the renovation possibilities that Sealwise can offer to (food) companies. “We see, for example, that more and more companies are setting up their own cleanrooms. With Sealwise, we provide a perfect antibacterial wall and ceiling solution for this.” Ernest proudly shares the latest news about a new partnership with Interflow, a specialist and the largest cleanroom builder. “In the coming years, many high-quality cleanrooms will be built!”

Antibacterial panels

He observes that the food processing industry is in dire need of renovation. “This is partly due to increasingly stringent laws and regulations. Our Sealwise panels for walls and ceilings provide a solution. They are sustainable, made from recycled (U)PVC and they are recyclable, 100% waterproof, antiviral, antibacterial, easy to work with, fire class Bs1d0, antistatic, strong and durable yet lightweight, chemical-resistant, and have a lifespan of at least 20 years.” The new generation of Sealwise WBC panels was developed together with Jack, using practical knowledge and experience. “The first generation was of softer quality. We made it stronger. Jack tested the panels repeatedly until we achieved the current quality. He knows better than anyone what is possible with these panels.”

Additional developments for interiors

In addition, Jack also developed a special bumper strip. “We used to see tiled walls with stainless steel finishes in many buildings,” Ernest continues. “You can never get those completely clean. Bacteria remain in the edges and on the stainless steel itself. Sealwise can be thoroughly cleaned. It can be cleaned with all types of products and kills 99.8% of bacteria. Furthermore, Jack, with Innotec, created a special sealant that matches the properties of the panels.”

Exterior is also important

It’s logical that food companies focus on a hygienic interior, says Ernest: “Production areas and cleanrooms must meet HACCP requirements. But when a company wants to renovate the exterior or opt for an extension, attention is also needed for the appearance. That’s where Plastica facade panels come into play. Since 1978, Plastica has been supplying sheet material for interiors and exteriors for new construction and renovation. We offer a wide range of facade cladding in wood, HPL, metal, or stone. Naturally, these panels are low-maintenance, long-lasting, and easy to work with. For example, take the building of Bolscher in Enschede. For their renovation, they chose Cape Cod wooden facade cladding. The wood is treated, making it last longer and you don’t have to paint it for a very long time. The wooden facade also fits well with the rural surroundings.”

Minimal downtime

“In new construction, renovation, or refurbishment in the food industry, minimal downtime is extremely important. Therefore, efficient planning is a priority at Sealwise. Jack and his team work according to a strict protocol, often outside production hours. In all projects, we provide good guidance because, together with Jack, we always strive for the perfect end result,” concludes Ernest.
