We can look back on the golf day as yet another success; as if someone was smiling down on us, we had fantastic weather, enjoyed the wonderful golf facilities and even got a little tanned. 34 people headed out onto the course, and the clinic was well attended too. It never ceases to amaze me how easily new contacts are made between complete strangers who you send out onto the golf course in random groups of four. Or within a group who receive a golf club thrust into their hands and are then let loose on the ball, under the watchful eye of a golf pro. Business cards are exchanged, appointments are arranged. There’s always something to talk about when food is the common link.
I’d like to take this opportunity to pay Roy Meenderink from ReflexSystems a compliment. After winning the clinic last year, he made some pretty bold claims: he intended to obtain his golf licence and then return this year to win the competition. And he did just that! A great achievement, Roy – well done! So expectations are high for the winner of this year’s clinic, Ria Jansen from Jansen Techniek – maybe you’d better get your golf licence too, Ria!
There have been more additions to the OSV and Young Food Management (YFM) agenda for this year. Huls (dry sausage products) in Vlagtwedde, Simadan (biodiesel facility) in Amsterdam and Nizo Food Research will all be opening their doors to us. And if your production line risks coming to a standstill if the maintenance engineer happens to be delayed, check out the training course at ROVC in Ede in early October: re-training an operator can save you a lot of money. Keep a close eye on the website for registration details.
Until the next time!
