Vivera, the largest producer of meat substitutes in the Netherlands, expects the market for meat substitutes to continue to grow in the coming years. That is why the company will invest 30 million euros in expanding its production capacity over the next three years.
During the corona lockdown, the market for meat substitutes grew by 30 percent, mainly because consumers were no longer able to eat outdoors. Vivera expects sales of 85 million euros in 2020 and plans to double to more than 250 million euros in 2025.
Van Weede, Vivera's top executive, expects growth to continue: "We want to increase production from 17 million kilos to 45 million kilos by 2025. This means not only more machines, but also a doubling of the workforce, from four hundred to eight hundred. In addition to the consumer market, the company also focuses on sales to restaurants and fast food chains. Van Weede hopes to announce new collaborations with customers in these segments at the end of this year.
