Strict hygiene requirements in the food industry result in a real risk of chemical exposure. Various chemicals are used during both raw material treatment and cleaning processes. Despite the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), there is always a chance that chemical splashes can come into contact with skin or eyes. When this happens, it is essential to act quickly to prevent serious injury.
Chemicals at both ends of the pH scale can damage biological tissue such as skin and eyes. Whether the incident involves acids (pH above 7) or bases (pH below 7), it is crucial to return the pH level to a safe range as quickly as possible. Using Diphoterine® enables a single rinsing protocol for both types of exposure, which can save valuable time. Fast and efficient rinsing helps to limit the severity of injury. In cases involving hydrofluoric acid, we recommend the use of Hexafluorine.
After such an incident, chemicals may also be present on machinery or the floor. These residues can be removed in a responsible way using our ecological absorbent products.
