Van Loon Group wants to acquire Maître

  • 11 April 2023

Van Loon Group wants to acquire Maître in Oude-Tonge. Maître produces chilled meals, meal components and soups for retail and foodservice. The acquisition is consistent with Van Loon Group's strategy to grow further in meals and convenience.

"With the acquisition of Maître, we strengthen our proposition towards our customers in retail and foodservice. The assortment; meals, soups, sauces and marinades as well as Maître's customers fit well with our current portfolio and at the same time provide an expansion in our range. With this acquisition we are taking a great step forward in realising our growth ambition," said Robert van Ballegooijen, CEO Van Loon Group.

Van Loon Group has been active in the chilled meals market since 2021. Meal maker Bonfait was successfully added to the group in that year. Maître's activities fit well with Bonfait's existing product range. Maître and Bonfait will join forces. The joint portfolios allow both companies to offer their customers a wider range of products. For the time being, both companies will continue to operate independently and under their own names.

Corné Verlind, managing director Maître: "We are delighted to join Van Loon Group. In recent years, under Nobel ownership, the company has been able to develop into a leading player in the field of fresh meals and soups. The acquisition by Van Loon Group gives us the opportunity to further improve the prospects for our employees and customers. We look forward to working with Bonfait. By joining forces and sharing knowledge, we can mean even more to our customers in retail and foodservice."

The proposed transition is still subject to the advice of the Van Loon Group and Maître works councils.
