Van Geloven plans to close three factories in 2026

  • 15 May 2025

Snack producer Van Geloven aims to concentrate its production at three sites in the Netherlands. This proposed move would mean the closure of its locations in Wijk bij Duurstede, Cuijk, and the Belgian site in Mol over the course of 2026. The company has informed the works councils and has initiated the formal consultation process.

Restructuring with significant impact on staff

The planned reorganisation affects 142 employees: 67 in the Netherlands and 75 in Belgium. “We will of course support our employees with care and respect during this difficult time,” says Commercial Director Walter van de Ven. “This principle will guide our discussions with the works councils and trade unions.”

According to Van Geloven, the aim is to provide employees with clarity and certainty as soon as possible. Concentrating production should help safeguard the company’s continuity and enable further growth in the Netherlands, Belgium, and beyond.

Solid foundation for growth strategy

The snack market leader states that the decision is necessary to remain competitive. “By concentrating our production facilities, we are creating a solid foundation that is essential to stay competitive in a rapidly changing market affected by rising inflation,” Van de Ven explains. The move aligns with Van Geloven’s long-term strategy to strengthen its market position and seize new growth opportunities.
