Food industry companies can now connect more easily in their search for upcycling partners. On International Upcycling Day, the Global Food Upcycling Map was launched — a digital tool designed to give collaboration in the circular food chain a real boost.
Upcycling gives side streams from food production a second life as new products. This not only helps reduce food waste, but also limits environmental impact and strengthens the circular economy. Still, finding the right partners for these efforts often proves challenging.
The new map aims to change that. Developed in partnership with DataScouts and supported by Industriens Fond as part of the Food Upcycling Project, the tool helps companies connect across the value chain — from ingredient suppliers and tech providers to food brands and logistics partners.
The initiative is backed by several organisations, including Teknologisk Institut, Foodvalley, Food & Bio Cluster Denmark, DTU National Food Institute, DI Fødevarer, Dagrofa ApS and Landbrug & Fødevarer.
Organisations active in food upcycling are encouraged to sign up and claim their spot. This increases their visibility and opens up more opportunities to work with others in the network.
