Turnover food industry 3.7 percent lower in first quarter

In the first quarter of 2021, turnover of producers in the food industry was 3.7 percent lower than a year earlier. This loss of turnover was slightly higher than the loss of turnover in all branches of industry. According to the CBS, turnover in manufacturing as a whole fell by 1.5 percent.

On balance, 18.5 percent of industrial entrepreneurs said at the start of the second quarter that they expected turnover to increase in the next three months. With this, entrepreneurs were more positive about turnover than in the previous quarter. In addition, 11.1 percent of manufacturers said they expected staff numbers to increase. In the first quarter of this year, this was 2.0 percent on balance.
