At the National Food Congress, held at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen, Timo Hoogeboom, the former CEO of Hak, was honored as the 'Food Manager of the Year'. This accolade, an initiative by FoodPersonality, has been awarded for 26 years and celebrates extraordinary achievements in the food industry. Hoogeboom was acclaimed for transforming Hak from a traditional canning manufacturer to an innovative food company, with a focus on plant-based products and organic vegetables and legumes from Dutch soil.
Hoogeboom's approach at Hak led to a significant renewal of the product range and marketing strategies. He focused on legumes as a healthy and sustainable alternative to meat, rejuvenating the brand and introducing modern packaging solutions like stand-up pouches. His ambition to offer only organic products by 2027 was praised by the jury as particularly innovative and forward-thinking.
The selection of the 'Food Manager of the Year' involves a multi-phase process. An advisory board of the National Food Congress compiles a shortlist, followed by a jury comprising previous winners and leaders from the food industry making the final decision. This process underscores the involvement and expertise of prominent figures in the sector, ensuring the award of this prestigious title reflects significant achievements and influence within the Dutch food industry.
