What did we do during our anniversary year and where did we visit?
The kick-off of this special year was the traditional Winter Barbecue, where we toasted the 25th anniversary of the OSV together with 180 participants. It was an exhilarating get-together with a wonderful mix of members, their guests, and the invited food manufacturers. Klaas Dijkstra – founder of the OSV – was also present to share in the festivities.
We visited Ameco in Apeldoorn. We had a full house and a well-filled list of reserves. The building of Ameco has truly been a masterpiece. All parties involved were quick to get started and the slaughterhouse was built up from scratch in no time at all. Many of its suppliers are OSV members. We asked them to give 5-minute presentations on how they contributed to this project and what problems they encountered. This was a great success. Fast presentations, to-the-point, and without being distracted by PowerPoint slides. Just getting up there and talk. This secured a high level of attention and resulted in a lively discussion.
Another company that opened its doors for us was the Urker Zalmhuys. A company with a unique combination of artisanal traditions and modern production technologies. And a very enthusiastic team.
Late April we had a group playing golf, we organised a GDPR workshop, mid-June we met again on the Summer Barbecue, and the final activity for now, in 2018, is SmaakStampei on 14 November. A walking dinner organised by VersTrade and in collaboration with various food manufacturers and their unique products introduced us to delectable dishes while the 'walking elevator pitches' created a great dynamic.
In short: quite a full programme, with something for everyone.
And now we are already focusing on 2019.
