Tetra Pak, Recon Polymers, and AVK Plastics strengthen collaboration

  • 21 October 2024

Tetra Pak, Recon Polymers, and AVK Plastics have joined forces to take beverage carton recycling to the next level. By expanding their partnership, the three companies are strengthening the circular economy in the packaging industry, aiming to increase the reuse of raw materials and reduce the reliance on new resources.

Investments for higher recycling capacity

In 2023, Tetra Pak invested one million euros in Recon Polymers, a key player in processing PolyAl, the residual material from beverage cartons. This investment will enable the recycling capacity in the Netherlands, France, and Belgium to reach at least 8,000 tonnes per year. AVK Plastics, known for producing products from recycled plastic, uses this PolyAl to manufacture high-quality transport pallets and cover boxes.

Strategic partnerships for a sustainable future

The collaboration between these three companies highlights the power of strategic partnerships. By combining their strengths, they not only increase recycling capacity but also inspire other industry players to adopt sustainable practices. According to Frank Vandewal of Tetra Pak, this partnership reinforces circularity in the packaging industry and helps reduce the environmental impact of consumers.

Growth and sustainability go hand in hand

AVK Plastics has ambitious growth plans, with sustainability as a key focus. Through close cooperation with Recon Polymers, processes are being optimised, and new applications for recycled PolyAl are being developed. This partnership demonstrates how collaboration within the supply chain can lead to innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.
