Saving money by using an automated washing line

At Jungpflanzen Lüske, in the north of Germany, LETS has delivered and installed a new automated washing line.

According to the manager, Martin Lubbe, the previous washing system did not meet the current requirements. Also, the number of items to be washed would increase significantly, because an expansion of 16,000 square meters was planned. This has now been completed and was put into use for the cutting of young plants at the beginning of 2022. 

Besides, it was important for Jungpflanzen Lüske to comply with the new care law that Germany is introducing in phases. This law obliges entrepreneurs to carry out socially responsible production. With these starting points, the company came to LETS.

After a visit of representative Jaco Wolters at Jungpflanzen Lüske, and a reference visit to an LETS customer in the Netherlands, it was clear to Martin: The people of LETS know what they are talking about and know how to build machines. LETS made an offer and not much later received the order to deliver a completely automated washing line.

The line consists of a conveyor belt where two sets of three stacks are put on at the same time with a fork-lift truck. The stacks are then unstacked by means of a destacker and turned upside down in order to remove any loose dirt in the crate. After this, the crate is placed in a crate washer where it is cleaned by means of powerful pumps, in the last section even with high pressure of 120 bar. After the crate has been washed, the crates are stacked neatly again by means of two stacking bars, and then prepared to be taken off the conveyor belt by forklift truck. 

In addition to meeting the requirement for perfectly clean crates, there are also considerable savings in terms of personnel: with just one forklift truck, the required capacity of 2,500 crates per hour is easily met. Meanwhile, a professional team of LETS has built the complete line and has started to operate the crate washing line.
