Regener­a­tive agricul­ture gains support from food giants

Forty international companies from the food and agriculture supply chain have expressed support for regenerative agriculture. FrieslandCampina, Carlsberg, Mondelēz, and Diageo are among the companies that signed a joint declaration by SAI Platform.

The companies are committing to the Regenerating Together Programme (RTP). The programme is intended to support the transition to regenerative agriculture within international food supply chains. According to the declaration, challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, soil degradation, and water stress are closely connected.

A joint approach across the supply chain

The signatories state that change within the food system is only possible through cooperation between producers, processors, manufacturers, retailers, and other supply chain partners.

“Addressing these challenges requires collaborative action, shared knowledge, and alignment between producers, processors, manufacturers, retailers, and other parties throughout the supply chain.”

The programme was developed with input from farmers, agronomists, NGOs, and research institutions. Shared focus areas, targets, and indicators have been established as part of the programme. At the same time, there is still room for local differences in farming systems and practical conditions.

Dutch companies involved

Several names will sound familiar to the Dutch food industry. FrieslandCampina is listed as a signatory, alongside Aviko, Farm Frites, and Lely.

International companies including Danone, Nestlé, McCain, Bayer, and Unilever have also joined the declaration. This creates broad cooperation across the global food and agriculture sector.

Focus on soil and resilience

According to the declaration, the programme should contribute to improved soil health, biodiversity, water management, and climate resilience. The signatories also stress the importance of strengthening the long-term position of farmers and farming communities.

SAI Platform will present the next phase of the Regenerating Together Programme in June 2026 during its annual event in Saskatoon, Canada.
