Record fruit and vegetable yields for food banks

This year, the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade has already delivered more than 1,000,000 kilos of fruit and vegetables to food banks in 11 months. This is a record yield for the organisation. Due to the corona crisis there is more supply from suppliers and more demand from food banks. Elianne Leeffers, secretary of the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade: "We are very happy with this result. In our first year we delivered 255,000 kilos and in the second year 577,000 kilos. In 2018, we did not dare dream that we would be able to donate 1,000,000 kilos of fruit and vegetables within 11 months. We are very proud of the team with whom we have made this achievement".

The Vegetable & Fruit Brigade is committed to providing each food bank customer with 1 kilo of fruit and vegetables each week. In order to achieve this, we are working on expanding into Venlo and possibly Brabant.
