Plukon acquires vegan producer Vega Insiders

With the acquisition of Vega Insiders, Plukon Food Group adds a specialized vegan producer to its organisation. The activities of the Udenhout-based company will be integrated into the group, with Vega Insiders continuing to operate under its own name.

Dedicated facility for plant-based production

Plukon had long expressed the ambition to establish a dedicated vegan production facility. This acquisition brings that goal to life. Vega Insiders develops and produces a wide range of fresh and frozen vegan products for retail, foodservice, and QSR clients. The factory in Udenhout will remain operational, and all employees will stay on board.

CEO Kees Kraijenoord describes it as a significant step: “This acquisition fits perfectly with our strategy. It enhances both our product diversity and our innovative strength in the field of complementary proteins.”

Shared vision and entrepreneurial spirit

Vega Insiders is part of the Zilverwerf Group and is being acquired with the aim of finding a partner who shares the company’s values and vision. “There was an immediate connection,” says founder Mart Beniers. “With Plukon, I found a partner with the same mindset: entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and with a solid understanding of the market.”

Growth in alternative proteins

Plukon Food Group operates in seven European countries with 40 locations and 11,000 employees. In 2024, the company generated a turnover of €3.4 billion. The acquisition of Vega Insiders supports Plukon’s growth strategy in the field of alternative proteins.
