Oerlemans Plastics celebrates 50th anniversary with inspiring festival

  • 12 June 2023

Oerlemans Plastics celebrated its 50th anniversary with the Festival Circular Open Air on Friday, June 9, 2030. The event, which took place as part of the anniversary year, offered a dazzling program for 400 business guests and presented the company's circular strategy and future-proof packaging products.

Four seminars focused on creating impact, developing innovations, sustainability & legislation, and a tour of the OPACKGROUP Technology Centre were held during the festival. In addition, guests were able to tour the new factory, where all machines were in full operation.

Former astronaut Andre Kuipers shared his insights on responsibility for the planet and highlighted the applications of space technology, such as detecting illegal forest fires and predicting freshwater loss. Kuipers also warned about floating small products when opening packages, a phenomenon experienced in weightless environments.

Oerlemans Plastics' Circular Open Air Festival marked the culmination of its anniversary year, during which the company opened a new plant, changed its group name to OPACKGROUP and completed two successful acquisitions. Owner Joan Hanegraaf received recognition for his contribution to the plastics industry and was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange Nassau.

With the festival, Oerlemans Plastics not only celebrated its successes, but also inspired partners and guests to work together for a more sustainable future. The company remains committed to its circular strategy and remains at the forefront of the packaging industry.
