Nocotech against all micro-organisms

  • 10 May 2021

As supplier of the Nocotech disinfection system, Simpel Desinfecteren is often asked whether this disinfection method works against all micro-organisms. The answer is: yes. "Laboratory tests prove this. But more importantly: so does practice."

There is a cheese processing company in the north of the Netherlands; here, cheese is cut into large pieces, slices and cubes, and packaged. There was a problem with mould in the production hall. This was particularly noticeable on the sealant edges: a black layer. Therefore, the sealant edges were renewed annually. A costly and time-consuming job. But that did not solve the problem, and more and more customers were complaining about mould on their products. Hugo ter Hoeve, owner of Simpel Desinfecteren along with Robert Kostrubiec, explains that the cheese company once again replaced all the sealant edges and used the Nocomax on a daily basis. "The number of complaints dropped noticeably, and this time the sealant edges remained clean and white." Thus, the use of the Nocomax proved to be a cost-saving investment.

Listeria

Another example, concerning Listeria. A fish processing company (including a smokehouse) was seriously troubled by it. The contamination moved from one production area to another and kept circulating. It was not possible to determine the exact location of the source of the contamination. "In five rooms, the Nocomax wall model was installed and a daily treatment was applied. After a short period, hardly any Listeria was measured. After 2 months, the company was Listeria-free. Now, after 2 years and daily use of Nocomax still. This saves on research costs," Hugo says.

Salmonella

That Salmonella can be a problem at a poultry processing company will not surprise anyone. Simpel Desinfecteren was approached by a company where the contamination was very high, despite good cleaning and adherence to quality procedures. Hugo: "After examination, the problem turned out to be in the evaporators. Even after thorough cleaning, there was still a source of contamination. After installing the Nocomax Wall Model, the analyses got better and better. Because the dry vapour also goes through the evaporators and thus also reaches the inside of the evaporators, they became cleaner and cleaner."

The Nocotech system is a biological way of disinfecting. It works on the basis of hydrogen peroxide (7.9%) and provides a dry disinfecting vapour. No residue is left behind so rinsing is not necessary and micro-organisms do not become resistant.
