New technology helps farmers around the world

  • 28 July 2020

A partnership between an organization that provides accurate weather forecasts and a company that develops irrigation solutions has the potential to help millions of small farmers around the world. A letter of intent between weather forecasting company ClimaCell and agricultural technology company SupPlant should make precision farming possible for everyone.

ClimaCell and SupPlant want to jointly develop a scalable solution that gives small farmers in developing countries access to accurate weather information and irrigation advice. By implementing ClimaCell's technology in the SupPlant solution, farmers can gain real-time insight into the water needs of their crops. The companies believe they can create a system that will cost the farmer around $15 per year. The technology should then result in 50 percent more crop yield, representing a 700 percent increase in profits.
