A new funding scheme for organic products is on the way. Starting in early 2026, entrepreneurs will be able to apply for subsidies to strengthen regional sales of organic goods. The scheme, called Vabiola, is designed for Dutch SMEs, foundations and associations. Large companies aren’t eligible for funding, although they may still take part in collaborative projects.
What sets Vabiola apart: it’s all about collaboration. Think of projects where parties join forces to build a local supply chain. This could mean increasing regional sales of organic products or jointly developing new ones. Catering companies also come into play. In these types of projects, several parties work together to organise the infrastructure needed to deliver organic products.
The scheme opens on 2 February 2026. Applications can be submitted until 1 May. Each year, a total of €3.7 million will be available. That means there’s room for serious investment: funding per project ranges from €100,000 to €500,000. The RVO website explains what’s required for the application. You can also sign up there for online information sessions, which will take place in November 2025 and January 2026.
Vabiola is part of the Action Plan – Growth of organic production and consumption. The goal: by 2030, 15% of Dutch farmland should be organic. Increasing supply alone won’t cut it. It’s just as important to create more places where consumers can buy organic products. Not only in supermarkets and restaurants, but also at garden centres and in online meal boxes.
