The KIDV has made an initial comparison of the use of disposal logos on packaging in various European countries. KIDV published an overview of this, which makes it clear to companies which logos are used in those countries, whether they are voluntary or compulsory and where companies can find information on the regulations that apply there.
"In the Netherlands, we are seeing increasing interest in our disposal logos. Companies often ask if these can also be used internationally. The collection methods of packaging waste differ from country to country. We are now making this transparent," says project manager Vincent Balk of the KIDV. The disposal systems of the following eight countries have been compared: Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
"With some countries it should be possible to get more alignment. The European Commission is also expected to steer more in this direction," says Balk. "Companies that market their products in different countries also need this. With our comparison, we are already partly meeting them."
