Jumbo Supermarkets and instant on-demand delivery company Gorillas have agreed on a strategic partnership in the Netherlands and Flanders. The partnership focuses on the fast growing market for the instant delivery of groceries ordered online in larger cities. Jumbo and Gorillas are convinced that they can benefit from each other's expertise and simultaneously strengthen their own market position. As part of the agreement, Jumbo will deliver a large part of its product range to Gorillas, including various A-brand, Jumbo private label, organic and exclusive La Place products. In addition, online customers of Jumbo in urban areas will in the future be able to have their purchases delivered within minutes by Gorillas. Gorillas is currently already active in eleven Dutch cities and two Belgian cities. In both countries the company will expand further in 2022.
The partnership between the two companies is based on long-term cooperation and has an initial term of several years. In other markets, Gorillas has recently also signed cooperation agreements with national retailers, such as Tesco in Great Britain and Casino Group in France. The collaboration in the Netherlands with Jumbo will start this quarter and will be rapidly scaled up. The agreement also includes agreements on combining marketing activities in the field of lightning-fast grocery deliveries. Jumbo and Gorillas see opportunities for expanding their customer propositions, strengthening the digital customer relationship and possibly also joint location development. The parties do not disclose financial details about the collaboration.
