Who doesn't know them, Jan's pancakes and poffertjes? Jan is made at Cerelia, founded in 1974. With more than 11 production locations, the now French former family business has grown into an international market leader of chilled dough products. We are invited to take a look at the kitchen of the Sliedrecht factory.
Michael Driessen is a project engineer at Cerelia in Sliedrecht. In this position, he is involved in everything related to the project-based optimisation of the location: from the re-pavementing of the car park to the renovation work necessary for the optimal conditioning of the production and logistics areas.
Michael feels comfortable in the family business. "It is normal here to help each other. Everyone can be themselves, develop and evolve. In my opinion, this good atmosphere among employees is the basis for the success of this company."
He tasted the same attitude during his first telephone contact with Prodoor Benelux B.V. from Apeldoorn. He was assigned project leader/work planner Jan-Willem Mol and presented him with the task of repairing and/or replacing all the industrial doors in the factory. "Jan-Willem immediately responded enthusiastically. We made an appointment, he visited our factory, carried out a sustainability check and mapped out our wishes. From that moment up to and including delivery, we teamed up, a way of working that I really enjoy. During the execution, Prodoor also appointed Chief Engineer Milco Wijgman. He was my daily contact for the coordination of our production and hygiene planning with the work."
"To adapt an existing environment to the highest demands of product quality and food safety, craftsmanship is required", continues the project engineer. "We certainly found that at Prodoor. They are really involved in their project, they are like door doctors taking care of their patients." Michael is therefore very pleased with the realization of the renovation. "Especially when Ronnie Schiltmans, director/owner of Prodoor, came here, following the example of the technical delivery, to ask if really everything is to their satisfaction, and if there is still room for improvement for them as an organisation. This is how you, as a company, make the difference. Their core values 'involved, reliable and competent' are not empty promises: they live up to them in practice."
