I dare to dream again

Since the beginning of the corona, I have put on my hiking boots and you will regularly find me on beautiful hiking trails. When we were unable to go to China in the spring of 2020, I booked a hiking trip in Sweden. In August, surely by then we would be allowed again, right? But this trip, like so many other trips in 2020, was cancelled. Today, the prospects are better and flights have already been booked. It means a lot of training, with heavy luggage. I have never been outside this much before! For me, this is a positive side effect of corona.

For example, on May 31st, I was on my way to Amsterdam to go for a walk with a friend in the Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen. A beautiful area, highly recommended, but that's beside the point. On the radio in the car, Hugo de Jonge announced that if all adults were vaccinated this summer, the measures could be lifted altogether sometime in the autumn.

Could it be? Could this be true? Will we finally be able to throw away the face masks? Can we organise events for our members again?

A golf day is possible anyway! An OSV-barbecue in Ede will be a bit tricky; that can only be arranged if the one and a half metre rule is lifted as well. The attendance is always high; it is a great success every time.

The key question remains whether food companies will dare to open their doors again for the highly popular company visits. Anyway... Is it possible for me to carefully hope again? To dream of seeing each other regularly again this autumn? That we will be able to organise fun and educational activities? And dream of a large turnout?

Marco Borsato claims that dreams are deceptive. I courageously ignore that. Marlous Oosting sings 'Dreams come true'. That's what I'm going for: I dare to dream again!
